How does Mel Gibson like his steak?
Medium rare, according to Dublin restaurant F.X. Buckley.
The restaurant shared a photo of the bearded Hollywood star on their Facebook page and explained that he tucked into "kidneys and a medium rare fillet" for his hearty dinner.
Taking to social media, the venue proudly shared the snap of Mel with their sommelier Albert.
“When Mel is in Dublin he eats at FX Buckley. He has kidneys and a medium rare fillet,” they wrote.
Gibson is in the capital for eight weeks to shoot The Professor and The Madman, alongside Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn. The film tells the story of the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary. It is expected to shoot in Dublin for eight weeks, with production beginning at the end of the month.
He previously visited Ireland for professional reasons for the filming of Braveheart, when he made use of the army reserve. The flick was filmed across several locations in Dublin, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow.
The Braveheart director plays professor James Murray, who began compiling the OED in 1857 and led the overseeing committee. Penn portrays Dr William Chester Minor, an inmate at an insane asylum who submitted more than 10,000 entries for the dictionary.
The film is based on a book of the same name by Simon Winchester, which Gibson acquired the rights to almost 20 years ago.
The film will also star a slew of up and coming Irish talent including Rob McCormack, Abigail Coburn, Zoe Moran, Phonsie Wardell, and Nora Cooper, cast from an extensive search as the family of Professor Murray.
Oscar-winning Sean is also no stranger to Irish shores. The actor previously worked in the city with Italian director Paolo Sorrentino on This Must Be the Place in August 2010.
