Gangland target Ross Hutch has been charged this evening over an attempted cash van robbery.

Independent.ie has learned that the 24-year-old, who won €33,000 in cash and prizes on RTE’s Winning Streak last year, was detained this morning at Store Street garda station.

He was questioned over the botched robbery of a cash van that was collecting money from a parking meter on Green Street in Dublin's north inner city on December 1.

During the incident a raider grabbed the keys for the vehicle but did not escape with any money.

No one was injured in the raid and no firearms or weapons were produced.

Tonight a garda spokesperson has confirmed that Hutch was charged in Store Street station. He will remain in custody overnight and appear in Dublin District Court on Saturday morning.
